In 2009 WestCURC was successful in building capacity to engage in mixed income housing development activities in the Westwood community in 2010. Specifically, WestCURC under the guidance of Sr. Ann Rene McConn, former president of Cincinnati Housing Partners, built community support and input through meetings and Facebook, researched foreclosures, developed connections with lenders and builders, researched LEED certification and greening and built internal organizational structures that will aid their work in development this year. In 2010 WestCURC will acquire, rehab and sell three homes to low-to-moderate income families. |

Recently WestCURC has participated in business district improvements, real estate development, beautification, promotion of the Westwood neighborhood, home tours, and collaboration with area schools. WestCURC will be working on saving its foreclosed homes by buying and rehabbing them, then selling them to homeowners. Their target area is the Summit, which is the heart of the community. They have already begun work to green the area by holding a meeting with residents to providing information about the sustainable improvements in energy efficiency that can be made fairly cheaply, while providing reductions in costs of heating and cooling. Westwood is Cincinnati's biggest neighborhood. |
