Working In Neighborhoods

Since its inception in 1978, WIN has revitalized communities and helped families become homeowners with credit counseling, financial literacy classes, and renovating and building homes. With this 2009 Operating Support funding WIN will complete 12 units in the WIN Home Ownership Preservation Initiatives, and begin construction of 4 units in the Reclaiming REOÕs in the Mill Creek Valley project.

In 1981 WIN became involved in the construction and rehab of homes in four low/moderate income neighborhoods: the Mill Creek Valley: South Cumminsville, Northside, Winton Place and West McMicken. To date WIN has developed or assisted in the development of 137 homes. In 2006 WIN began housing development in the neighborhood of College Hill.

Above and to the left are two houses ready for homeowners. They are examples of WIN's excellent work. The home above is new construction and energy star in College Hill.  The blue house to the left is a rehab on Fergus Street in Northside. The unique touches WIN put into these homes is a testiment to their care. They believe that low and moderate income families should have all the amenities too.

Pictured to the right is a house to be demolished to make way for new construction in College Hill. The second photo is the lot across the street that is the future site of a new home.
