Succession Planning Brown Bag Seminar– November 2007
LISC National Organizational Development Initiative – presenter TBA
Decisions about promotions to the highest levels, planned over a long period of time, are collectively referred to as succession planning. It is in the interest of every board of directors, those legally responsible for the fiscal responsibility and overall stability of the organization, to assure that there is a process in place to guide organizations through the transitions caused by the departure of top personnel. Using core competencies as the starting point, an organization needs next to think about the specific work experiences they want their leaders to have. Then the organization needs to make certain that a number of people are given job assignments that allow them to gain the required experience.
