We are proud to present three annual events where people from all parts
of community development can meet with each other.
Awards Celebration in June
At the start of the summer, we like to honor those in the community for their
work and dedication to development and affordable housing. We offer seven
categories for MOST OUTSTANDING: Executive Director, Volunteer, Collaborative
Effort, Project Consultant, City Staffer and Lender.
Community Development Bus Tour in September / October
Every neighborhood has outstanding results to show off. Each year we
focus on a different neighborhood, hire a bus, and take anyone interested on
a tour of that area's accomplishments and works in progress. People from all
sides of community development gather: From activists to bankers to other CDCs
interested in the work of their colleagues. Previous years' tours have included
Carthage, Clifton, and Over-the-Rhine. This year we toured Covington, our friends
on the other side of the river.
Holiday Reception in December
A time to relax and enjoy each others' company. Our holiday reception is always
free of charge. It's our way (and our sponsor's way) of thanking you for the hard
work, the long hours, and the tireless commitment to community development.
Informational Meetings
In collaboration with LISC and the City of Cincinnati, we offer the "Capacity
Building Academy for Community Development" series. There are about
5-8 sessions per year with topics ranging from Asset Management to
Board Development to fundraising and marketing.
We welcome your requests/suggestions. Email or call us to request more
information. In addition to the LISC trainings, we regularly keep track of various
conferences in the area. Check out the upcoming events page or the calendar
page in our latest newsletter.
Roundtables
There are plenty of hot button issues to discuss pertaining to community
development. Every year we have several roundtables with various subjects
such as vacant properties, affordable lead abatement, best practices, and
city policies. These round tables tend to be initiated by relevant issues and
arise on a need-basis. If you have any ideas for a roundtable or want to gather
some people to discuss anything, contact us and we will gladly set up a roundtable.
